Problem

Cause and corrective measures

The automatic firmware update is not working and there is a corresponding error message.

The Sunny Home Manager may not be able to establish a connection to the SMA Update Portal because there is a proxy server in your network.

Corrective measures:

  • Configure the settings of your network in such a way that the SMA Update Portal https://Update.SunnyPortal.de can be reached.

New firmware is not updated.

The firmware update is always a 2-step process. First, it is downloaded and installed. At this point, the message "Update successful..." already appears.

The update is only active after a reboot, which the Sunny Home Manager performs the night after the update.

Corrective measures:

  • Check the update again later.

  • If necessary, perform a manual device reboot (as per the device manual).

Device updates are not being loaded.

Some devices can only get their update directly since the update file is too large.

Corrective measures:

  • Check the status or event messages of the affected device.
    If necessary, perform a manual device update (as per the device manual).

Restarting the Sunny Home Manager does not work.

It is possible that the device cannot be accessed.

Corrective measures:

  • Reconnect the device and perform the restart again Restarting the Sunny Home Manager).

  • In an emergency, you can also trigger the restart directly on the Sunny Home Manager: Press and hold the reset button on the device with a pointed object until the LEDs stop flashing red (at least 6 seconds).

Incomplete / outdated / faulty data on the user interface

Data on the following pages is not up to date:

  • Current Status And Forecast

  • Energy balance on the Current tab

  • Load balance and control on the Current tab

Settings in the router might prevent Sunny Portal from requesting current data from the Sunny Home Manager.

Corrective measures:

  • Ensure that the following requirements are fulfilled

    • All UDP ports > 1024 on the router or modem must be open for outgoing connections. If there is a firewall installed on the router or modem, you might have to adjust the firewall rules.

    • It must be possible for the outgoing router or modem connections to reach all Internet destinations (target IP, target port). If there is a firewall installed on the router or modem, you might have to adjust the firewall rules.

    • On the router or modem with NAT (Network Address Translation) there must not be any port forwarding. Potential communication problems can thus be prevented.

    • There must be no packet filtering or manipulation for SIP packets installed on the router or modem.

The page Energy Balance is not displayed.

The Energy balance page is only displayed if the integrated measuring device or a separate SMA Energy Meter supplies measurement data from the grid-connection point.

Corrective measures:

  • Ensure that a measuring device is installed at the grid-connection point. Assign the measuring device (integrated or separate SMA Energy Meter) to the point of interconnection in the Sunny Home Manager properties Changing the Meter Configuration).

On the pages Energy balance and Load balance and control, the Current tab is not displayed.

The tab is only displayed if the data request interval is set to Automatic.

Corrective measures:

Sunny Portal is not showing any weather forecast in the diagram Forecast and recommended action.

It can take up to 24 hours after the Sunny Home Manager has been initially registered in Sunny Portal until the weather forecast is displayed.

Corrective measures:

  • After 24 hours, check again to see whether the weather forecast is displayed.

  • If after 24 hours there is still no weather forecast displayed, contact the Service team Contact).

The animated graphic on the page Current status and Forecast is not displaying any current data.

The reception of current data from the Sunny Home Manager is only possible if the data request interval is set to Automatic.

Corrective measures:

The animated graphic on the page Current status and Forecast is not displaying any current data.

It is possible that no PV generation meter is connected to the Sunny Home Manager and that too many data capture devices are simultaneously accessing the devices of your PV system.

Corrective measures:

  • Ensure that, apart from the Sunny Home Manager, a maximum of 2 other data capture devices are accessing your system at any one time.

No data is displayed on the Current tab on the page Load Balance and Control.

Too many data capture devices may be simultaneously accessing the devices of your system.

Corrective measures:

  • Ensure that, apart from the Sunny Home Manager, a maximum of 2 other data capture devices are accessing your system at any one time.

No data is displayed on the Current tab on the page Energy Balance.

It is possible that no PV generation meter is connected to the Sunny Home Manager and that too many data capture devices are simultaneously accessing the devices of your system.

Corrective measures:

  • Ensure that, apart from the Sunny Home Manager, a maximum of 2 other data capture devices are accessing your system at any one time.

The diagrams are empty or incomplete.

It might be possible that no energy meters or not all energy meters are connected to the Sunny Home Manager or they are not configured.

Corrective measures:

The diagrams are empty or incomplete.

Sunny Portal might not be able to receive any data from the Sunny Home Manager.

Corrective measures:

An exclamation mark is permanently displayed after parameters have been changed.

It might be possible that the Sunny Portal could not transfer the parameters to the Sunny Home Manager.

Corrective measures:

Device parameters are not updated.

It is possible that the device cannot be accessed.

Corrective measures:

  • Try to manually update the device parameters.

Sunny Portal is displaying unrealistic data.

The integrated measuring device of the Sunny Home Manager or the separate SMA Energy Meter might not be correctly connected or configured.

Corrective measures:

  • Ensure that all devices are correctly connected and configured.

Sunny Portal is displaying unrealistic PV yield prognoses.

It is possible that the strings in the Sunny Home Manager are not correctly configured.

Corrective measures:

  • Ensure that the strings in the Sunny Home Manager are properly configured, especially the azimuth.
