Enabling Start-up Detection for Radio-Controlled Sockets
Start-up detection can only be activated for a load that is connected via a radio-controlled socket. Start-up detection is only possible if the power consumption of the load exceeds a specific minimum threshold (measurement tolerance).
The start-up detection is linked to the settings of the operating mode.
By enabling start-up detection, you enable the Sunny Home Manager to independently switch to the Automatic operating mode and to run the program of a load at the most favorable time possible within the configured time period.
Via the radio-controlled socket assigned to the load, the Sunny Home Manager uses the power consumption to detect when the connected load starts a program and switches the load off again directly via the radio-controlled socket in order to switch it on again later and automatically via the radio-controlled socket.
Sunny Home Manager blocks start-up detection for the duration of the load's maximum program operating time (blocking period) so that the program can run without a new interruption even when there are fluctuations in the power consumption of the load (e.g. 2nd start-up of a washing machine during the spin cycle). The information (that the start-up detection is temporarily disabled) is displayed in the Load balance and control menu under the Current tab. You specify the maximum program runtime when configuring the load ( > Entering the Maximum Program Operating Time).
Requirements:
The load must be connected to the energy management system via a radio-controlled socket compatible with the Sunny Home Manager.
The load must be a dishwasher, washing machine or self-configured ( > Selecting the Load Type).
The load must be program-controlled ( > Selecting Program Controllability).
In order to enable start-up detection, the radio-controlled socket must be in the operating mode Switched on as an assigned device ( > Configuring the Operating Mode).
Procedure:
- Select Configuration > Load Overview and Planning in the page and menu selection.
- In the line of the required load, in the column Configuration, select the symbol .
- Click on [Edit].
- In the field Start-up detection, select the checkbox Active.
- If necessary, adjust the preset limit values in the text fields Power limit for detection and Detection time.
These limit values must be exceeded so that an exit from standby mode or a load start-up can be detected. - Click on [Save].

Directly starting a load
If you want the load to start directly by bypassing the automatic control of the Sunny Home Manager, the operating mode of the radio-controlled socket must be switched on manually (in Sunny Portal, e.g., via the page Load balance and control > Current > Switch On, via the SMA Energy App, or by pressing the button on the radio-controlled socket). The load can then be started immediately. At the same time, start-up detection is disabled in the radio-controlled socket for a period of 3 hours so that the Sunny Home Manager cannot detect this start when start-up detection is switched on and cannot interrupt the program of the load.
After the blocking time has elapsed, the Sunny Home Manager takes over control again. This does not require changing the operating mode again.
