Connection options of the SG Ready heat pump

For a heat pump with Smart Grid Ready (SG Ready) control input, a suitable relay with potential-free switching output is required. Only the SG Ready control input is controlled by the Sunny Home Manager; the heat pump itself is permanently connected to the power supply.

In the following, options for connecting a heat pump with SG Ready interface are presented:

  • Connection via compatible radio-controlled socket and separate relay

  • Connection via compatible relay (direct connection)

Only selected devices support the connection to the Sunny Home Manager (see technical information "SMA SMART HOME - Compatibility List for the Sunny Home Manager 2.0").

Connection via compatible radio-controlled socket and separate relay

The radio-controlled socket can switch a relay with potential-free output, which can be controlled on the input side via 230 VAC. The actual load, in this case the heat pump, is put into operation by the output of the relay. If 230 VAC is applied to the relay via the radio-controlled socket, the SG Ready control input is active and the heat pump starts or is set to the programmed operating mode, e.g. to preferentially consume excess PV energy.

Connection via compatible relay

The SG Ready control input of the heat pump is connected directly via a compatible relay.
