Damage to the battery due to short circuit

Incorrect connection of the DC lines can trigger a short circuit. High currents due to short circuit lead to damage to the battery modules or battery management system.

  1. Take the mechanical connector coding of the supplied DC cables into account. Do not use force when connecting the DC cables.
  2. Always connect red DC cables to the red DC terminals.
  3. Always connect black DC cables to the black DC terminals.
  4. Always connect the two DC lines between the battery management system and battery modules first.
  5. Always replace damaged battery modules without delay.

Procedure:

  1. Plug a connector of the supplied black DC cable from the APU connector set into the BATTERY- socket on the battery management system. The locking lever on the socket must engage audibly with the connector.

  3. Plug the other connector of the black DC cable into the -POL socket on the lowermost battery module. The locking lever on the socket must engage audibly with the connector.
  4. Secure the black DC cable on the left-hand side of the battery cabinet. Use the preassembled cable clamps for this.
  5. Plug a connector of the supplied red DC cable from the APU connector set into the BATTERY+ socket on the battery management system. The locking lever on the socket must engage audibly with the connector.

  7. Plug the other connector of the red DC cable into the +POL socket on the uppermost battery module. The locking lever on the socket must engage audibly with the connector.
  8. Plug the black connector of a DC cable from the module connector set into the -POL socket on the uppermost battery module. The locking lever on the socket must engage audibly with the connector.

  10. Plug the red connector of this DC cable into the +POL socket on the next battery module. Lay the DC cable over the communication cable and do not cover the ventilation slots in the fan housing. The locking lever on the socket must engage audibly with the connector.
  11. Incorporate the rest of the battery modules into the DC cabling within the battery cabinet, working from top to bottom.
  12. Ensure that no DC cables cover the ventilation slots in any fan housings.
