Installing the battery management system

Qualified person

DANGER

Danger to life due to electric shock due to touching live components or cables with insufficient or no grounding

If there is insufficient or no earthing, high voltages can be present at the battery cabinet enclosure in the event of a fault. Touching live parts and cables results in death or lethal injuries due to electric shock.

  1. Earth the battery cabinet.
  2. Earth the battery management system during installation.

Performing system registration

To complete commissioning, a system registration must be performed

  1. Use the following link for the system registration: https://my.sma-service.com/.

Procedure:

  1. Record the battery management system’s serial number in the commissioning report.
  2. 11982558988
  3. To ground the battery management system, attach the supplied battery management system grounding cable to the grounding bolt on the back of the battery management system. To do this, fasten the M6 terminal lug in place. (Tool: hexagon socket, AF10, torque: 6 Nm).
  4. Insert the battery management system at the topmost sliding rail in the battery cabinet. Slide in the battery management system carefully so the preassembled cage nuts do not become dislodged.
  5. 11982559372
  6. Attach the grounding cable to the grounding point for the grounding cable. To do this, fasten the M8 terminal lug in place (hexagon socket, AF13, torque: 8 Nm).
  7. 11982559756
  8. Fasten the battery management system in place at the preassembled cage nuts (PH2, torque: 3 Nm). Use 4 of the supplied flat head screws and 4 of the supplied plastic washers for this.
  9. 11982560140
  10. Ensure that the 4-pole connector for the E-STOP connection on the battery management system is plugged in for operation. The battery management system will not work without this connector.
