Deep Discharge Protection Limits

A battery cell is deeply discharged when the cell voltage falls below a defined protection limit. The cell voltage can be checked with the help of the BatMon battery monitoring software.

Level

Protection limit

Description

Remedy

1

VMIN = 3.1 V

  • The cell voltage falls below the protection limit VMIN.

  • The battery (cabinet) switches itself off to avoid a further discharge.

  • Contact Service.

2

VPROT = 2.7 V

  • The cell voltage falls below the protection limit VPROT.

  • Improper handling or the failure of protection mechanisms caused the battery cells to be discharged further.

  • The cells may experience unknown damage.

  • Reactivation presents certain risks and must be done exactly according to instructions.

  • The cause of the deep discharge must be known.

  • Contact Service.

3

Vdef = 1.8 V

  • The cell voltage falls below the protection limit Vdef.

  • The battery cell is faulty.

  • Contact Service.

  • Dispose of the battery module immediately.
