Activating Peak Load Shaving
With the "Peak load shaving" function, you can optimize the behavior of the battery inverter with respect to the power exchange at the grid point of interconnection. This is useful when a higher supply of power and energy would lead to a higher electricity cost. With the "Peak Load Shaving" function, certain grid-exchange power outputs to which the battery inverter is adjusted depending on its power and battery capacity available can be set. Power peaks and additional costs can thus be avoided.
Information: To use the peak load shaving function, a purchasing tariff including peak load prices is necessary.
Prerequisites:
For projects with self-consumption:
You have opened a project and planned it up to the project page System (quick planning) or Determine self-consumption (detailed planning).
On the page System (quick planning), the option Take battery-storage systems into account is enabled, or on the page Determine self-consumption (detailed planning), the option Intermediate storage of excess PV energy is enabled.
For energy system projects:
You have opened a project and planned it up to the project page Energy system.
On the project page Define scenario, the Battery system option has been enabled in the System components area.
On the project page Defining the battery system, the option Take battery-storage systems into account has been enabled.
Procedure:
- For projects with self-consumption: on the page System (quick planning) or on the page Determine self-consumption (detailed planning), select the option Peak load shaving in the Application drop-down list.
- For energy system projects: on the page Energy system, click on the button [Battery system] in the central workspace.
- The page Defining the battery system will open.
- In the Application drop-down list, select the option Peak load shaving.
- In the Consumption Limit field, enter the value of the grid-supplied power at which the battery system begins to reduce the grid-supplied power by discharging the energy storage system.
- To have a proposal for the grid-supply limit calculated, select [Determine consumption limit].
- To adopt the calculated grid-supply limit, click [Apply proposal].
