Procedure for connecting to the SMA Data Manager M

This section describes the procedure for connecting the charging station to the SMA Data Manager M.

Requirements:

  • The SMA eCharger has the firmware version ≥ 2.5.9.R

  • The SMA Data Manager (EDMM-10 / EDMM-20) has the firmware version ≥ 2.5.9.R

It provides an overview of the steps, which must be performed in the prescribed sequence.

Commission the charging station.

Commissioning the Product)

Establish a connection to the user interface of the charging station. There are various connection options to choose from for this:

  • Direct connection via Wi-Fi

  • Connection via Wi-Fi in the local network

  • Connection via Ethernet in the local network

If required, change the network configuration on the welcome page. The automatic network configuration recommended by SMA Solar Technology AG via DHCP server is activated by default. Only change the network configurations if the default configuration is not suitable for your network.

Commissioning Assistant

Carry out the configuration using the Commissioning Assistant. Select Charging station as System Manager in the device configuration.

Connect to the user interface of the charging station and enter the value [502] for the parameter Modbus TCP server port under Configuration > Parameters.

Make further settings if necessary (e.g., configure multifunction relay).

Commission the SMA Data Manager (EDMM-10 / EDMM-20).

Establish a connection to the user interface of the SMA Data Manager.

  • Select the menu item Device administration in the Configuration menu.

  • Select the button.

  • Select Modbus devices and confirm with [Next].

  • Select Manage Modbus profiles.

  • Select Create a new Modbus profile.

  • Fill out the entry fields and select [Save].

  • Search for available Modbus devices in the system.

  • Select the Modbus device to be added to the system and select [Save].

  • Check whether the measured values are being read correctly.

To monitor the system in the Sunny Portal and view the data visually, create a user account in the Sunny Portal and create a system in the Sunny Portal or add devices to an existing system.
