Connection in Accordance With EnWG §14a Requirements
The SMA EV Charger Business is equipped by default with a suitable interface for power reduction via an external control device in accordance with the requirements of EnWG §14a. The charge controller has a configurable, two-channel I/O interface consisting of an optocoupler input and a relay output.

Input | Function | Input voltage | Input current |
---|---|---|---|
In- | Opto 1 In: Optocoupler input 12 V negative | DC 11.4 V to 25.2 V | 2.3 through 6.4 mA |
In+ | Opto 1 In+: Optocoupler input 12 V positive |
SMA Solar Technology AG also relies on EEBUS for control by the grid operator with the EV Charger Business. This means that from firmware version 5.33.0, the EV Charger Business will support the two grid use cases LPC (Limitation of Power Consumption) and MPC (Monitoring of Power Consumption) via EEBUS.
The function has already been successfully tested with the STEUERBOX PROLAN and the FNN Control Box from vivavis. These two solutions in conjunction with the control box require a smart meter gateway to be installed in the system.
