Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI)
Qualified person
The arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) can be activated with immediate operation inhibition, activated without operation inhibition or activated with operation inhibition after 5 detections within 24 hours.
You can set the arc-fault circuit interrupter using the following parameters.
Name | Group | Settings |
---|---|---|
AFCI | Device > Inverter | Yes No |
You can use the following parameters to set the manual restart after an arc fault detection.
Name | Group | Settings | Explanation |
---|---|---|---|
Manual restart after arc detection | AC Side > Operation > Manual restart | On | After detecting an electric arc, the inverter interrupts the grid feed-in. The inverter remains in this state (operation inhibited) until the operating mode is manually set to Start. |
Off | After detecting an electric arc, the inverter interrupts the feed-in operation, disconnects from the utility grid, and automatically resumes operation after approximately 10 minutes. If an electric arc is still detected, the inverter disconnects again, and the process restarts. | ||
Yes, after 5 electric arc detections within 24 hrs (recommended) | After detecting an electric arc, the inverter interrupts the feed-in operation, disconnects from the utility grid, and automatically resumes operation after approximately 10 minutes. If an electric arc is still detected, the inverter disconnects again, and the process restarts. After 5 electric arc detections within 24 hours, the inverter remains in operation inhibition and must be manually reset to Start. |
Inverters with arc-fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) without operation inhibition should be monitored regularly. Recurring electric arcs should promptly be inspected and rectified by qualified persons. If it is not possible to inspect and rectify the fault immediately, the inverter should be decommissioned until the cause of the fault has been clarified and rectified. Recurring electric arcs can damage the connection cables and the system components. Failures can occur. Uncontrolled electric arcs can also cause a fire.
You can use the following parameters to resume operation after an operating interruption.
Name | Group | Settings |
---|---|---|
General operating mode | Device > Operation | Start Stop |
