Rated Residual Current of the Residual-Current Device

The leakage current of the device is detected as a residual current by the residual-current device. The rated residual current setting in the inverter must be matched to the rated residual current of the residual-current device used. A value must be set that corresponds at most to the rated residual current of the residual-current device. If the residual-current device trips frequently, the value in the inverter can be set lower.

If the residual current exceeds the value set in the inverter, the inverter disconnects from the utility grid and thus prevents the incorrect tripping of the residual-current device (for further information see "Leading Leakage Currents" Technical Information at www.SMA-Solar.com).
