Configuring the Resistance of the Battery Cable
Qualified person
You can optimize the battery management if you set the resistance of the battery cable in expert mode.

Designation of the cable
The resistance of the battery cable is the sum of the resistance of cable 1, the battery fuse and the resistance of cable 2.
Resistance of a single cable:
RCu = ρ x l/A
ρ = specific resistance for copper (ρ = 0.018Ω mm²⁄m)
l = total length of the conductor (outward conductor + return conductor = twice the cable length) in m
A = conductor cross-section in mm²
resistance of total battery cable:
RBatRes = Rcable 1 + Rbattery fuse + Rcable 2
RBatRes = total resistance of the battery cable
RCable 1 = Calculated resistance of cable 1
RCable 2 = Calculated resistance of cable 2
Rbattery fuse = total resistance of the battery fuse (see manufacturer documentation)
The basic procedure for changing operating parameters is explained in another section ( > Changing Operating Parameters).
Procedure:
- Calculate the individual cable resistances.
- Calculate the total resistance of the battery cable.
- Select Battery > Battery.
- Select the parameter Line resistance of battery connection and set this to the resistance of the battery cable.
