Event 4301
Qualified person
Event message:
Serial el.arc in String |s0| detected by AFCI mod. / EvtAfci
Explanation:
The arc-fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) of the inverter has detected a serial electric arc in the indicated string. If "String N/A" is displayed, the string could not be uniquely assigned. The inverter interrupts feed-in operation. This is often caused by a defect in the series connection of the PV modules, especially in the area of the PV connectors. Defects in the module connection socket or within the PV module are less common, but cannot be ruled out. Recurring errors may cause damage to neighboring conductors and system components, which could result in more extensive system failures and damage and even to uncontrolled electric arcs and fires.
The PV system should immediately be inspected by qualified persons. If it is not possible to identify the cause of the error, the inverter should be taken out of operation until the investigation and corrective action can be completed.
Corrective measures:
Perform the following measures either for the indicated PV string or, if no string has been identified, for all PV strings.
Ensure that there are no optimizers installed at the PV modules. The arc-fault circuit interrupter is not designed for operation with optimizers.
When using additional components in the DC installation, for example module switches, ensure compatibility.
Ensure that only PV connectors of the same type and from the same manufacturer are connected to each other.
Visually inspect the entire DC installation (PV modules, cables, plug connections, and any existing components such as module disconnectors) to ensure there are no signs of damage, such as porosity, cracks, crushing, deformation, or discoloration. Replace or repair any defective components.
Tip: Use an IR camera for support.
If the arc-fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) with manual restart is activated, start the manual restart.
