Introduction
Grid management services are functions that make it possible to meet certain grid operator requirements. These functions primarily serve to ensure grid stability.
Grid management services through SMA products:
The SMA inverters and system controllers are equipped with service functions for grid management. This includes e.g.:
Active power mode:
Active power setpoints
Voltage-dependent active power adjustments (P)V
Reactive power mode:
Reactive power setpoints
Cos-phi setpoints
Reactive power/active power characteristic curve Q(P)
Reactive power/voltage characteristic curve Q(V)
Cos phi/active power characteristic curve cos phi(P)
Cos phi/voltage characteristic curve Cos phi(V)
Depending on the requirements of the grid operator, you can activate and configure the functions (e.g. active power limitation) via operating parameters. Switching between reactive power modes for the grid feed-in, zero-power and consumption ranges is possible via Modbus/TCP on System Managers during operation.
An overview of the grid management service functions and their configuration can be found under the following link: Technical Information "SMA GRID GUARD 10.0 - Grid Management Services via Inverter and System Controller" and at www.SMA-Solar.com.
A device-specific overview of the available parameters for SMA inverters and their setting options as well as information on the SMA Modbus registers can be found in the Technical Information "Parameters and Measured Values" at www.SMA-Solar.com.
