Installation of an additional battery module

Battery modules may only be added withing 24 months of initial commissioning. Additions after 24 months can lead to a reduction of the usable capacity of the new module to the level of the modules already installed.
In order to install an additional battery module after initial commissioning of the battery system, always proceed as described in this section.
Procedure:
- Check whether the inverter and the battery have the most current firmware version. The latest firmware version can be found on the respective product page at www.SMA-Solar.com.
- If the inverter and the battery are not equipped with the latest firmware version, perform a firmware update of the inverter and of the battery (see manual of the inverter).
- Log in to Sunny Portal powered by ennexOS filter for "Battery" in the menu Monitoring > Event monitor. Check the events to see whether the battery firmware update has been completed successfully.
- Charge or discharge the battery to 30% SOC ( > Bring the battery modules to a state of charge of 30%).
- Disconnect the product from voltage sources ( > Disconnecting the Product from Voltage Sources).
- Undo the two screws (M6 / AF10) on the BMS unit and remove the BMS unit.
- Mount the additional battery module and attach it to the wall ( > Mounting the Product). To do so, remove the wall mounting bracket and fixing brackets on the uppermost module already installed and use them for the extension module.
- Place the BMS unit onto the uppermost battery module and attach using the two screw and washer assemblies (M6x16, AF10, tightening torque 5 Nm).
- Recommission the system with all battery modules.
