Removing a Battery Module

Procedure:

  1. Disconnect the product from voltage sources ( > Disconnecting the Product from Voltage Sources).
  2. Undo the two screws (M6 / AF10) on the BMS unit and remove the BMS unit.
  3. Remove the wall mounting bracket on the uppermost module.
  4. If necessary, remove further battery modules if the defective battery module is further down the tower.
  5. Disassemble the defective battery module. If this is the lowest battery module, the adjustable feet and U-turn unit must be removed.
  6. Store the defective battery module in a safe place (storage period: 30 calendar days). Observe the specifications for the storage of lithium-ion batteries.
  7. If SMA Solar Technology AG requests the defective battery module for analysis, pack the defective battery module in the transport packaging of the replacement device and follow the specifications by SMA Solar Technology AG for returning the battery module.
  8. If no request is made by SMA Solar Technology AG to return the defective battery module within the storage period, dispose of the defective battery module. Use the transport packaging of the replacement device.
