Safety Information

This section contains safety information that must be observed at all times when working on or with the product.

To prevent personal injury and property damage and to ensure long-term operation of the product, read this section carefully and observe all safety information at all times.

DANGER

Danger to life due to high voltages of the PV array

When exposed to light, the PV array generates dangerous DC voltage, which is present in the DC conductors and the live components of the inverter. Touching the DC conductors or the live components can lead to lethal electric shocks. If you disconnect the DC connectors from the inverter under load, an electric arc may occur leading to electric shock and burns.

  1. Do not touch non-insulated cable ends.
  2. Do not touch the DC conductors.
  3. Do not touch any live components of the inverter.
  4. Have the inverter mounted, installed and commissioned only by qualified persons with the appropriate skills.
  5. If an error occurs, have it rectified by qualified persons only.
  6. Prior to performing any work on the inverter, disconnect it from all voltage sources as described in this document.

DANGER

Danger to life due to electric shock from touching an ungrounded PV module or array frame

Touching ungrounded PV modules or array frames results in death or lethal injuries due to electric shock.

  1. Connect the frame of the PV modules, the array frame and the electrically conductive surfaces so that there is continuous conduction.
  2. To ensure maximum protection for PV systems and persons, ground the PV modules, the array frame and electrically conductive surfaces separately from the inverter in accordance with the local standards and directives.

DANGER

Danger to life due to electric shock in case of a ground fault

If a ground fault occurs, parts of the system may still be live. Touching live parts and cables results in death or lethal injuries due to electric shock.

  1. Disconnect the product from voltage sources and make sure it cannot be reconnected before working on the device.
  2. Touch the cables of the PV array on the insulation only.
  3. Do not touch any parts of the substructure or frame of the PV array.
  4. Do not connect PV strings with ground faults to the inverter.
  5. Ensure that no voltage is present and wait five minutes before touching any parts of the PV system or the product.

CAUTION

Risk of burns due to hot enclosure parts

Some parts of the enclosure can get hot during operation.

  1. Do not touch any parts other than the lower enclosure lid of the inverter during operation.

NOTICE

Damage to the enclosure seal in subfreezing conditions

If you open the product when temperatures are below freezing, the enclosure seals can be damaged. Moisture can penetrate the product then.

  1. Only open the product if the ambient temperature is not below -5°C.
  2. If a layer of ice has formed on the enclosure seal when temperatures are below freezing, remove it prior to opening the product (e.g. by melting the ice with warm air). Observe the applicable safety regulations.

NOTICE

Damage due to cleaning agents

The use of cleaning agents may cause damage to the product and its components.

  1. Clean the product and all its components only with a cloth moistened with clear water.

NOTICE

Damage to the inverter due to electrostatic discharge

Touching electronic components can cause damage to or destroy the inverter through electrostatic discharge.

  1. Ground yourself before touching any component.

Electrical installation

All electrical installations must be carried out according to the electrical requirements applicable on site.

  1. All work must be carried out in such a way that it complies with the technical standards for electrical devices and the regulations for electrical installation.
  2. All work must comply with the regulations on occupational safety and hygiene.
