Intended Use
The SMA Energy Solution with Sunny Tripower Hybrid X is a PV and battery system for the generation, storage, control and use of PV energy in the home. The system optimizes self-consumption, the energy costs of PV energy and reduces the energy obtained from the utility grid by the following functions:
Use of self-generated PV energy
Intermediate storage of PV energy in a connected battery
Smart energy management through the Sunny Tripower Hybrid X as System Manager
Automatic optimization of energy flows by means of the Energy Planner or the optional SMA Premium function package with Energy Maximizer
Integration and intelligent control of compatible loads such as SMA eCharger, electricity storage system and other energy system components
Consideration of generation forecasts, consumption patterns, and, depending on the configuration, dynamic electricity tariffs to optimize energy costs
Visualization of load, generation and energy data in the SMA Energy App, in Sunny Portal powered by ennexOS and in the SMA 360° app
Supplying loads in case of grid failure via integrated emergency or battery-backup functions with SMA Backup solutions
The Sunny Tripower Hybrid X handles the central control of the energy system and the energy management. The power measured at the point of interconnection is recorded using the SMA Energy Meter for example. The SMA Energy Meter is used exclusively for the energy measurement within the system and does not replace the energy meter of the electric utility company.
By default, the system has a manual secure power supply (SPS) function with which selected loads can continue to be supplied from the battery and PV system in case of a grid failure via a connected socket. The system can be equipped with an SMA Backup solution for the Sunny Tripower Hybrid X to provide an automatic battery-backup power supply for the entire household. In conjunction with the backup solution, the Sunny Tripower Hybrid X generates a three-phase battery-backup grid in the event of a grid failure and continues to supply the building with energy from the battery and PV system.
With the optional cloud-based extension SMA Premium, additional energy management functions can be activated. This includes, in particular, the automated optimization of energy flows, the use of dynamic electricity tariffs, the intelligent control of battery storage systems and charging solutions as well as the further improvement of the system's efficiency and self-consumption.
All components must remain within their permitted operating ranges and their installation requirements at all times.
The products by SMA Solar Technology AG are not suitable for use in
Medical devices, in particular products for supplying life-support systems and machines,
Aircraft, the operation of aircraft, the supply of critical airport infrastructure and airport systems,
Rail vehicles, the operation and supply of rail vehicles and their critical infrastructure.

SMA Solar Technology AG shall not be held liable for any damage caused by such changes.
Any use of the product other than that described in the Intended Use section does not qualify as appropriate.
