Components not compatible with SMA Premium

The energy management system has been designed for the supported and documented system constellations. Other system configurations are not currently supported and may lead to malfunctions, unexpected control behavior, and erroneous calculations.

In these cases, it cannot be guaranteed that the energy management system functions correctly with SMA Premium. Therefore, prior to commissioning, a check must be made as to whether the actual system structure corresponds to the supported system constellations. Deviating or complex system configurations must be evaluated separately and, where necessary, integrated on an individual basis.

Among others, the following topologies are not supported:

  • Systems with diesel generators or other grid-forming power generators

  • Systems with combined heat and power plants (CHP plants) as additional generating units

  • Off-grid systems or partially autonomous grid structures

  • Systems made up of multiple subsystems with differing control strategies, feed-in limits or derating concepts

  • Systems with multiple independent control entities, resulting, for example, from simultaneous control by an energy management system, grid operator, external controller, charging infrastructure or zero export systems

  • Complex system networks with additional loads or generators whose operating states and control parameters are not fully represented in the energy management system
